Hello,
The Housing Selection and Placement Process takes place for students to participate in the selection of their housing arrangements for the following academic year. Please review all the information below thoroughly, as many of your questions will be answered.
Applications and Petitions
Housing Accommodations - due Wednesday, April 6th Students interested in requesting housing accommodations for the coming year must complete the Accommodations Process with Academic Success and Disability Services (ASDS).
Off-campus Petition - due Wednesday, April 13th As a follow-up to the University notices on December 17, 2021 and February 8, 2022, only those who meet one of the four published exemption criteria will be considered for the coming 2022-2023 academic year. Learn more about the Off-campus Petition process on our website and complete the petition on the MyRedlands Housing Portal.
Quad Application - due Wednesday, May 4th This application is for students who want to be considered for placement in a quad room, which are limited in number. Taking into account preferred roommate(s) when possible, the selection of students is completed in collaboration with Student Financial Services (SFS). Each student who wants to be considered should complete the application on the MyRedlands Housing Portal.
Singles and Waiting Lists - ongoing These applications will become available after the Room Draw process has finished, as single rooms and changes to housing assignments take place throughout the summer. Please be aware that priority for single rooms is first given to students with housing accommodations using the process above.
Room Draw
1) Personal Profile: Visit the MyRedlands Housing Portal and update your Personal Profile for Fall 2022.
2) Roommate(s)/Suitemate(s): Search and match with roommate(s) and suitemate(s) under Housing and Roommate Selection by selecting Roommates/Suitemates. Approve matches with all students of which you plan to share a room and/or suite-style living arrangement. During the Room Draw process, you will identify a roommate or suitemate designation for each matched student, while also placing them in a particular bed arrangement.
3) Room Draw: Participate in Room Draw, the week of May 16th, during the best selection date/time for your matched housing group to select your room. You will receive your assigned date and time, based on course and academic standing, with detailed information sent via email to your Redlands account on Friday, May 13, 2022. The apartments and halls included in Room Draw will be the Brockton and Grove Apartments and California, Cortner, Fairmont, Founders, Grossmont, Melrose, Merriam, and North Halls.
4) Consolidations: After the Room Draw process has finished, Residence Life and Housing will place students who did not participate in a housing assignment, as well as reconfigure some housing arrangements to optimize placements and facilitate Waiting List requests. Students on the Waiting List will be notified via their Redlands email account when they have been assigned a new space that meets their preference.
Additional Housing Information
Going abroad or taking a leave of absence in the fall? You must complete the Accommodation Request and/or Off-campus Petition processes to be considered for these housing options when you return. However, no other housing selection processes are needed from you at this time. You will be contacted in November via your Redlands email account with information about how to share your room and roommate(s)/suitemate(s) preferences for your spring return. This will be completed on your MyRedlands Housing Portal using the Return to Housing Form. Students planning to take a Leave of Absence for the Fall semester, must follow the information linked here to notify the University.
Currently on a Leave of Absence? Students currently on a LOA, who have indicated they will return in the fall with the Registrar's Office, will participate in the Housing Selection and Placement Process as a returning student based on their course and academic standing.
Plan Ahead for Fall 2022: Returning students will move-in on Saturday, August 27, 2022. All check-ins will be completed by appointment only. Information about scheduling your arrival time will be provided at the beginning of August. The communities will close for Winter Break on Friday, December 9, 2022 at 10am.
May Term and Summer Closing 2023: Students not enrolled in a May Term course must check-out by Sunday, April 23, 2023 at 2pm. Also, each year the University closes some residential communities for May Term. For the coming May, those location will likely be Anderson, East, Fairmont, Melrose, and Williams Halls and the Grove Apartments. Students staying for May Term residing in these communities will be relocated to a different, comparable room assignment for the duration of May. They will be notified of their new assignments at the beginning of April and move on Sunday, April 30, 2023. Students enrolled in a May Term course will check-out by Friday, May 26, 2023 by 2pm.
