The Office of Community Standards

The Office of Community Standards works to make the University a safe and healthy community for all. This includes three main functions:

1. Administering outreach and education programs on topics related to holistic wellness (such as stress and mental health, and reducing harms related to alcohol and drug use)

"Redlands fosters a community of scholars and encourages a pluralistic notion of values by challenging assumptions and stereotypes in both classes and activities. A Redlands education goes beyond training to embrace a reflective understanding of our world; it proceeds from information to insight, from knowledge to meaning…the University seeks to develop responsible citizenship as part of a complete education. Redlands encourages a community atmosphere with exceptional opportunity for student leadership and interaction."
– excerpt from the University of Redlands Mission Statement

The Office of Community Standards plays a vital role in helping the University of Redlands to be “community of scholars.” We live out this ideal by being a community that fosters wellbeing and academic success, and in which all members participate in and uphold the standards derived from our shared values.

The Office of Community Standards works with all constituencies to develop, codify, and educate the community on University standards and policies.  This office also helps to resolve conflicts within the community, and responds to instances in which the standards of the community have not been upheld, in order to prevent recurrence, repair harm, and restore trust within the community.
