It is a change of global proportions! The University of Redlands is proud to host a living-learning community called The Global Quarter, designed for UOR students who want to encounter other cultures and traditions, to prepare for study abroad, or continue their international experience back on campus. The Global Quarter began in 2016 in North Hall; this community brings together global-themed first-year seminars to be part of the hub of campus internationalism, including meetings of internationally-themed clubs and organizations, language tutorials, film screenings, cooking classes, speakers, art displays, and even holiday celebrations. In 2019, the Global Quarter expanded to Merriam Hall, which houses sophomore through senior year students interested in this global theme. Residents, faculty, and staff who wish to become more involved in the Global Quarter should email Sebastian_Rivera@redlands.edu.
North is located directly across from many athletic facilities including the Fitness Center. North houses 100 students in air-conditioned, double rooms with hallway bathrooms and is co-educational.
Residents of North Hall engage in Community Standards meetings throughout each semester in which they discuss the policies they live by and hold each other accountable. These meetings give students the opportunity to communicate openly and effectively and live harmoniously with others around them.
Community Assistants are undergraduate student staff members who also live in the hall and provide residents with programming and events, such as movie nights, socials, crafts, sports events, study nights, and about varying topics. The student staff members are available to residents should they need help finding a location on campus, a peer to talk to, academic advice, or a roommate mediation. Our Community Assistants are chosen from a selective hiring process and trained prior to the start of the school year.
