East Hall

The atmosphere at East Hall is alive with a sense of positive energy and community. This hall is home to 125 first year students, including five student Community Assistants and a professional staff member. The Residence Life and Housing staff provides a supportive and dynamic environment in which students can learn and grow both personally and academically. Because these students are new to the University, they are given extra support in discovering how to make the most of their college experience.

East Hall is air conditioned, carpeted, and contains single-, double-, and triple-occupancy rooms with hallway bathrooms. The residence hall is co-educational. Each floor contains two lobbies for socializing, as well as study rooms for quiet work alone or in small groups. The community also contains a pool table, ping pong table, television with cable, and a small kitchen equipped with a stove, oven, microwave, sink, and refrigerator. The laundry facilities for East Hall are conveniently located next door in the rear of the Orton Center.

Residents of East Hall engage in Community Standards meetings twice a month in which they discuss the policies they live by and hold each other accountable. These meetings give students the opportunity to communicate openly and effectively and live harmoniously with others around them.

Community Assistants in East Hall provide students with programming and events, such as movie nights, socials, crafts, and sports events. Community Assistants also facilitate workshops surrounding diversity issues, as well as study nights and other educational programs. The student staff members are available to residents should they need help finding a location on campus, a peer to talk to, academic advice, or a roommate mediation. Our Community Assistants are chosen from a selective hiring process and trained prior to the start of the school year.
