The University owns and manages a 23-unit apartment complex, the Central Avenue Apartments, adjacent to and within a short walking distance to campus for graduate students and university-sanctioned visitors. The complex is composed of a mixture of single-story furnished duplexes and cottages clustered around a private driveway. There are 9 one-bedroom and 13 two-bedroom apartments, with one apartment occupied by the University’s resident property manager and one with a Student Affairs administrator. Residents share the use of a private swimming pool that is restricted to the Central Avenue Apartment residents. All rooms are single occupancy with one and two-bedroom apartment options available, however, other arrangements may be made for particular circumstances.
Most apartments have two bedrooms shared by 2 to 3 students. Students may prepare their own meals in their apartment or purchase meals on campus in our state-of-the-art dining facility, the Irvine Commons, offering non-vegetarian and vegetarian meals. Students may use University shuttles for transportation into town for shopping, movies, restaurants, etc.
The annual rent rate varies by selected room type and does not include meals. Rent is billed three times per year. The first payment, which is equal to four month's rent, is due no later than two weeks prior to the first day of classes and is non-refundable once the student becomes a resident. If there is an outstanding balance a student's account, all transcripts and degree confirmations will be held until payment in full is received. Housing fees are subject to change.
Housing is limited and it is recommended students request housing early through the Graduate Student Housing Intention Form on the MyRedlands Housing Portal.
