Gender Identity Statement

Learn about LGBTQ Programs

Residence Life and Housing and Campus Diversity and Inclusion are dedicated to providing safe and comfortable living environments for all students, including those whose gender identity and/or expression differs from the sex assigned to them at birth.

A transgender student looking for a supportive living arrangement in the residence halls should contact one of the individuals listed below. Because of limitations in the available housing options, there is no guarantee that all of a student's preferences can be met, but we are highly committed to working with the student to find the best accommodations possible. We do offer gender inclusive housing to all students in our apartments and residence hall communities. Students may choose to live with roommates of any gender or sex. No special application or disclosure is required.

Housing assignments for transgender students are guided by the following values:
  • Respect for and affirmation of the student's gender identity and/or expression.

  • Prioritized attention to the student's physical safety and emotional health.

  • Enhancing the student's opportunity for success at the University of Redlands by finding the best match between the student's needs and the options available.

Please contact Residence Life and Housing at RLH@redlands.edu for more information and one on one support.
