Sample Itinerary for Yosemite High Country Backpacking, subject to (and likely to) change: 

Day 1 

Pack up the vans and hit the road early, you’re headed 6.5 hours north up 395 to Yosemite and Tuolumne Meadows! Check into your primitive backpacker campsite and get ready for tomorrow. 

Day 2 

Up early, today is exciting. Depart from the White Wolf trailhead and make the long descent into the Grand Canyon of the Tuolumne to your riverside camp near Pate Valley.  

Day 3 

Today you walk through the heart of Yosemite. A big day, you’ll put at least 10 miles on your boots, through a stunning canyon.   

Day 4 

Another big day, passing spectacular waterfalls, granite towers and many switchbacks.  End the day hiking through the serene Tuolumne Meadows, and head down to your stunning campsite above June Lake.  

Day 5 

Pack up camp and head back south to Redlands. A shower and celebrations are in order. 

 

Additional Information 

No prior backpacking experience is necessary for this trip.  This trip is physically demanding, including 30 miles of hiking with a heavy pack at high elevation.  Confidence in your physical fitness is important for success on this itinerary.
