Sample Itinerary

Below is an example of a Catalina Island Backpack itinerary.  This itinerary is subject to change.

Itinerary

Day 1 Head out to the coast where you will catch your ferry over to Catalina Island.  You will arrive in Two Harbors, set up camp, and prepare for your 3-day, 2-night backpack.
Day 2 Start hiking along the eastern coast of Catalina Island.  Keep your eyes out for wildlife as you weave in and out of the inlets on your way to Parson’s Landing.
Day 3 Leave your gear at Parson’s Landing at you head out toward Starlight Beach, the official end of the Trans-Catalina Trail.  Return to camp and enjoy your oceanside home.
Day 4 Wake up, pack up camp, and start your return to Two Harbors!  Once you arrive, set up camp, rinse off in the ocean, and enjoy your last night on the island.
Day 5 Pack up camp and head back on the Ferry to the mainland and eventually back to the University Campus for a celebration dinner!

Additional Information

No prior backpacking experience is necessary for this trip.  This trip does include hiking with moderate elevation gain and is recommended for students who are interested in challenging themselves physically.
