In order to provide more convenient access for students who need ongoing or more specialized mental health care, the University has established a partnership with a local agency, CCS.
CCS was founded in 1978 as Christian Counseling Services. Today, however, it is known as CCS because it has expanded its scope of practice to include a variety of non-faith-based services. The organization has earned a strong reputation, in part because of its diverse staff of more than 40 clinicians, including U of R alumni, who serve people of all race, gender, sexual orientation, and economic status.

Note: First call consists of a phone intake with demographic information, a brief assessment, payment/insurance information and then an Intake Coordinator will return your call in 24-48 hours and will schedule an appointment within a week. (This process is subject to change due to the Covid-19 pandemic guidelines)
Services: Starting this fall ('20), and depending on health guidelines, CCS will provide telehealth appointments and/or will have CCS staff on campus to provide individual therapy. This arrangement with CCS will support students who need care outside the Counseling Center's scope of services (e.g. long-term therapy), will provide convenient access to counseling services, and will help manage our waitlist.
Although it is not currently in its portfolio, CCS leadership is working to provide on-campus psychiatric support for students as well. CCS licensed therapists take most health insurance, including the University’s insurance, and there is a sliding fee scale for unlicensed therapists. More information about contacting CCS will be provided in August.
Accepts insurance if seeing a licensed therapist: Aetna, Cigna, UBH, Loma Linda University Risk Management as well as other major health insurance plans – except they do not take HMOs or any Blue Cross plans. They will verify and bill your insurance if you provide the needed information.
