Making an Appointment

To begin meeting with a counselor, you must first schedule an appointment by calling the Counseling Center 909-748-8101

It is not necessary to come in to the office.  We are still meeting with students virtually via Webex.

Appointment scheduling starts on the first day of classes.

Fall: 9/2/2021

Spring: 1/10/2022

Our Administrative Assistant is only available during business hours, Mon-Fri 8:00 am-5:00 pm.  All calls received after business hours will be returned the next business day.

Appointment Procedure

Appointments will be scheduled as soon after the initial request as possible, depending on the urgency of the situation and staff availability.

Our Administrative Assistant will ask you a couple of questions to determine your need and availability then will offer appointments based on your response.  If you are not available for any of the current openings, you will be asked if you would like to be placed in our waiting list so we can call you as soon as an appointment based on your availability opens up.

Please note that demand for services increases from midterms-finals.

What does the initial appointment look like?

Your intake (initial) appointment will be an opportunity to discuss your current concerns. We will work with you to develop a collaborative plan for next steps. These steps may include effective coping strategies, a follow-up appointment, or referral to other resources.

We are currently assisting students in a hybrid environment which means you will be scheduled a telehealth appointment via Webex as a first option. In-person therapy options will be scheduled on a case-by-case basis following current CDC guidelines and at the discretion of the Counseling Center Staff.

At your appointment time, you will meet with one of our clinicians, i.e., a licensed psychologist, a licensed marriage and family therapist, a licensed professional counselor, or an advanced supervised graduate intern over secure Webex/in person. This appointment typically lasts 45-50 minutes. Our clinician will ask  questions to gather the information to determine how best to help you.

Telehealth Appointment Procedure

If you are scheduled for a telehealth appointment, you will receive a confirmation email shortly after we schedule your appointment over the phone. On the morning of your appointment you will receive an additional email with a link to the Webex meeting and instructions on how to complete intake forms required for your appointment.

To get the most out of your appointment, please be in a private location at the time of your appointment.  If you do not have a private location, please inform our Administrative Assistant so that we can coordinate other available options for you.

In-person Appointment Procedure

In-person services will be available on a case-by-case basis.  If you are intersted in meeting with us in-person please inform our Administrative Assistant.  We will go over the requirements and schedule an appointment if you qualify.

We will be following CDC guidelines and current administrative procedures to ensure we can provide a safe environment for both students and staff.  Be aware that our guidelines are subject to change.  If you have any questions, please contact the Counseling Center office at 909-748-8108.
