Pukuu - Caitlin Gulley Memorial Scholarship 

The Caitlin Gulley Memorial Scholarship program provides awards up to $1,000 each annually towards supporting students in concentrating on archaeology who reside in the State of California.

Deadline: October 16th  
Amount: Up to $1,000

  • Must be American Indian or Alaskan Native living in California. (Documentation of enrollment or descendancy is required. Attach a Letter from BIA, Tribe, or Tribal ID and State ID).
  • Must be an enrolled student at an accredited College or University.
  • Must have engaged in community service within the previous 12 months as validated by their college nominator either on campus or in the community.
  • Must have completed the Scholarship application and be in good standing with the Pukúu Scholarship Committee in accordance with the Pukúu Scholarship Rules and Regulations.
  • Must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75 for all undergraduate students and a cumulative GPA of 3.5 for all graduate students.


Pukuu - Tomiar Rudy Ortega Scholarship 

The Tomiar Rudy J. Ortega Sr. Scholarship program provides two awards annually up to $1,000 each towards supporting American Indian students in their academic studies who reside in the State of California.

Deadline: October 16th  
Amount: Up to $1,000

Rodney T. Mathews Jr. Memorial Scholarship 

The Rodney T. Mathews, Jr. Memorial Scholarship for California Indians provides up to $10,000 for 2019-2020 Academic Year and was established to assist California Indian students in pursuing their educational goals through the granting of competitive and meritorious based financial scholarships.

Deadline: June 1st 
Amount: $10,000

  • Must be an enrolled member of a federally recognized California Tribe. (Documentation of Native identity is required. Attach a Certificate of Degree of Indian Blood, Letter from Tribe, and Photograph).
  • Must be a full-time student at an accredited College or University.
  • Be actively involved in the Native American community.
  • Two letters of recommendation are required: 1) Academic Recommender and 2) American Indian Community Recommender. Letters of reference must be on official letterhead from the individual supplying the reference.
  • Must have completed The Rodney T. Mathews, Jr. Memorial Scholarship for California Indian and be in good standing in accordance with all Scholarship Rules and Regulations.
  • All undergraduate students must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75 and all graduate students must have a cumulative GPA of 3.5.
  • Must complete 60 hours of community service with a designated California Indian Community Agency (see attached list of agencies)
  • Must have completed the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and have financial need as determined by the appropriate Office of Financial Aid.
