Officer Escalera began his law enforcement career with the California Highway Patrol in 1983. He served for 30 years as a Traffic Officer, Backgrounds Investigation Officer, Undercover Auto Theft Investigator, Court Officer, Public Affairs Officer, and Protective Services Detail. While working the Protective Services Detail, he participated in the CHP Presidential Motorcade Team; Escorting 4 United States Presidents George H. Bush, Bill Clinton, George W. Bush and Barack Obama as well as other Heads of State when visiting the United States. While working for the CHP, Officer Escalera also became a stand-up comedian for over 12 years at the Ontario Improv Club, a host of Law Enforcement Events, San Manuel Casino, and the Tropicana Improv and Casino Laughlin, NV. He enjoyed performing on stage and making people laugh. After retiring from the California Highway Patrol, he took on seasonal Jobs with Cal-Trans, a Driver’s Ed School, and Boat Patrol in Lake Arrowhead.

Officer Escalera joined the University of Redlands Public Safety Department in April of 2022.
