Officer Doss retired from the California Highway Patrol in December 2014, following a 30-year law enforcement career. Upon his graduation from the CHP Academy, Officer Doss worked patrol duties out of the Central Los Angeles and San Bernardino Area offices. During his tenure as a CHP Officer, he was given special assignments such as an undercover investigator for an auto theft taskforce and was a member of the Critical Incident Investigation Team (which conducts internal investigations of serious incidents). Officer Doss was a Motorcycle Training Officer, Weapons Inspection Officer, Range Master, Taser Instructor and Vehicle Identification Number verification Officer. He was a member of the Protective Services Detail, which escorts the President and other dignitaries and a competitor for the CHP State Pistol Shooting Team.

Officer Doss joined the Public Safety department in August of 2022.
