Subject: Security Advisory: Redlands Campus Suspicious Person
This week, a male not associated with the University named Travis Parker, who is barred from the Redlands campus and has a record of recent arrests for violent incidents, has been found and removed from multiple campus locations by Public Safety officers and the Redlands Police Department (RPD). We communicated to the community about this individual in January, 2018, after a campus confrontation and arrest. Several in the community have witnessed this person on campus or being removed from campus since then. We are communicating today due to contact with him that is increasing in frequency and intensity and heightening our safety concerns.
This individual blends in easily with students, and he has again been able to enter the Armacost Library building. After speaking in a disturbing way to students, committing a theft, and threatening a Public Safety officer in a different campus location, Parker was taken into custody twice by the RPD. He was charged and subsequently released.
There is no active threat to campus at this time; if there was, the community would be notified by phone, text message, and email via the Bulldog Alert system. But the behavior and history of this individual indicate that he will likely continue to return to campus, may approach and disturb people, and may act out if approached by law enforcement. Therefore, any sighting should be reported and this person not approached.
We have attached Parker’s most recent photo to this communication. Please contact Public Safety immediately at extension 8888, or 909-748-8888, if you see a person matching these additional physical and behavioral details:
Caucasian male, age 23
Average build; approximate height 6′1″, approximate weight 210 lbs.
Short beard and mustache
Brown hair, hazel or brown eyes
Black long-sleeved shirt, dark green hoodie, tan/khaki pants
Possibly rambling, odd, or incoherent language
Loud, possibly angry, agitated/aggressive, profane language
Officers are actively patrolling the campus and surrounding area, monitoring campus video feed, and watching for this individual. We have increased the physical security of the Armacost Library building, including programs and services on the ground floor, through reduced and controlled access. We have increased Public Safety presence and added contract security in and around that building on a 24/7 basis.
Again, should an active threat be identified, instructions will be communicated through Bulldog Alerts. If you have not already signed up for Bulldog Alerts, please do so here.
Be aware of your surroundings and of the people and activity around you.
Walk with a buddy.
Call Public Safety at extension 8888, or 909-748-8888, if you see suspicious activity or people on or near campus or need assistance in any way.
Always call 911 in an emergency, or Redlands Police Dispatch at 909-798-7681 if you see or suspect a crime taking place off campus.
We will update this notice as needed.
