Dear University Community:
This morning, the Supreme Court of the United States issued its decision in the case of Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Org., which overturns the 1973 Roe v. Wade decision. This means that each state will determine the legality of abortion. This is a landmark decision that will have significant ramifications, the scope of which are not clear at this time. Like everyone else, we will be reviewing this decision to further understand its implications.
The University of Redlands is an institution of higher learning where we engage in careful, thorough analysis and promote the free exchange of ideas. We have always encouraged respectful discussion, even if those conversations involve different points of view. The issues of abortion and autonomy are personal issues where most people have very strong opinions and feelings. As such, I encourage you to be considerate of others during your discussions and advocacy.
