University of Redlands
Krista L. Newkirk became the University of Redlands’ 12th president in July 2021. During her first few months, she has been highly engaged, connecting with a wide range of constituents and attending many meetings and events with faculty, staff, students, alumni, and friends of the University.
Additionally, she led the charge to create a safe environment for in-person campus activities, oversaw the launch of the School of Business & Society, initiated a collaborative strategic planning process, and completed the University's comprehensive Forever Yours fundraising campaign with final results to be announced.
Newkirk came to Redlands from Converse University in Spartanburg, South Carolina, where she served as president. Prior to Converse, Newkirk spent 13 years at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, first in the Office of Legal Affairs, then as chief of staff in the Office of the Chancellor. Before her time in higher education, she worked for several years as an attorney both in private practice and at a Fortune 300 company.
Newkirk holds a J.D. from the College of William & Mary Law School. After spending her formative years on a cattle ranch in Missouri, she graduated from the University of Nebraska, where she majored in English and minored in philosophy. An avid trail runner and animal lover, Newkirk is married to W. Lewis Glenn III, and they are the proud parents of two sons.
For the first time since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, the University of Redlands community gathered to celebrate 1,535 graduates.
Alumni, parents, faculty, staff, students, and friends raised more than $350,000 in a record-breaking effort to support numerous departments and programs throughout the institution.
