San Francisco Theological Seminary Commencement

Rev. Tom Harshman recently retired from CommonSpirit Health, where he served as the System Vice President of Pastoral and Spiritual Care. Tom oversaw the system’s Spiritual Care Services and related mission integration functions. Tom continues to offer his expertise and guidance as an Association of Professional Chaplains (APC) Board Certified Chaplain, spiritual care provider, and certified Clinical Pastoral Educator with the Association for Clinical Pastoral Education, Inc. (ACPE). Throughout his career, Tom has served in a variety of settings including hospitals, hospices, HIV service organizations, university, and substance misuse treatment centers. He is an ordained minister in the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ).

Tom currently serves on the Professional Advisory Board for the Shaw Chaplaincy Institute of the Graduate School of Theology for the University of Redlands. Tom has been a vanguard in spiritual care, and continues to be a leader, offering his expertise with generosity and vision. He currently provides administrative services to the ACPE program at the University of Alabama Birmingham Medical Center.

Rev. Harshman is a Trustee of the National Benevolent Association, is an endorsed Disciples chaplain, and a member of Disciples in the Desert.
