Code of Ethics

                                                                                      PREAMBLE

Aware that the quality of professional Public Safety service and attainment of public trust ultimately depends upon the willingness of all Public Safety employees to hold themselves, and their fellow DPS employees to the highest standard of conduct and to manifest professional relationships based on mutual trust and good faith, the University
of Redlands Department of Public Safety mandates its conscientious observance and commitment to the Code of Ethics.

                                                                                     CODE OF ETHICS

I. I shall perform my duties and responsibilities in accordance with the policies of the
University of Redlands, local, state and federal laws.

II. I shall observe the precepts of truthfulness, respect, honesty, and integrity.

III. I shall be faithful and diligent in discharging my professional responsibilities.

IV. I shall be competent in discharging my professional responsibilities.

V. I shall safeguard confidential information and exercise due care to prevent any
improper or unauthorized disclosure.

VI. I shall never act officiously or permit personal feelings, prejudices, animosities, or
friendships to influence my decisions.

VII. I will perform my duties courteously and appropriately without fear or favor, malice or
ill will, never employing unnecessary force or violence.

VIII. I shall not maliciously injure or bring discredit to the professional reputation or practice
of fellow employees, colleagues, or the University of Redlands.

                  I recognize the badge of my office as a symbol of public faith, and I accept it as a public
                  trust to be held so long as I am true to the ethics of the profession. I will constantly strive
                 to achieve these objectives and ideals, dedicating myself to my chosen profession and   
                community to which I serve.
