The Makerspaces

The University of Redlands has two Makerspaces. Both are located in the first floor of the Armacost Building at the Fletcher Jones Foundation Innovation Center.

Makerspace 1.0 - LIB*138

In 2018 the University of Redlands created their first Makerspace by transforming a CLS. This space provided students, staff, and faculty with the tools to make and explore 3D printing and VR technologies.

This space is available as part of the University of Redlands XR program for VR work and experience.

The space contains:

  • 2 - VR computers
  • 1 - Oculus Rift
  • 2 - VR software such as Unity and the Autodesk programs

Makerspace 2.0 - LIB*112

In the Winter of 2020, the Fletcher Jones Foundation provided a grant for the expansion of University’s makerspace. During the spring and summer of 2021 as part of the Fletcher Jones Foundation Computer Center redesign and along with Garner Holt lab 112 was upgraded into a Makerspace. This new space opened Fall 2021 for student, faculty, and staff use.

The space has:

  • 2 - Lasercutters
  • 7 - 3D printers (2 Stratasys, 4 Method X, and 1 Ultimaker)
  • 2 - SPARKE animatronics
  • 2 - CNC devices
  • 1 - Vacuum Form

Space Use
