Study Abroad Grant and Scholarship Opportunities

There are multiple grant and scholarship opportunities available to students who study abroad.  Students should apply once they have decided on a specific program. 

Please note that all grants and scholarships are credited directly into each awardee's student account, where the funds can be used to offset tuition costs for the course.

 

Rosanne O'Brien Study Abroad Grant - Award: $1,000-$2,000

Offered to undergraduate or graduate students in the School of Business & Society with a minimum gpa of 3.0 who are participating in any study abroad course. These funds may be applied to course tuition or travel costs. One recipient per program. Application deadline is 100 days before departure (must have registered and paid deposit). Applicants will be notified of decision prior to the 90 day “no penalty” cancellation deadline.

Student Leadership Position Grant(s) - Award: $500 - $1,000

Offered to students participating in any study abroad course. These funds are applied to course tuition. One or two student leaders selected per program per year (Students apply for these grants after they have enrolled in a program and paid their deposit)

Robert Scott Lindsay Memorial Scholarship - Award: $1,000

Offered to students participating in any study abroad course. These funds are applied to course tuition. One recipient per program. Application deadline is 100 days before departure (must have registered and paid deposit). Applicants will be notified of decision prior to the 90 day “no penalty” cancellation deadline.

Cambridge Study Abroad Travel Grant – Award: All Program Costs

Offered to students participating in the Cambridge-London-Paris Program. This grant pays for all published travel costs for this specific program. One recipient per year (Deadline to apply for the 2023 grant is January 22, 2023).

Ahmanson Award for Military and Veteran Students - Various Amounts

Ahmanson Veteran Scholarship available for veteran students who are in receipt of the Post 9/11 GI Bill. Students apply for these grants after they have enrolled in a program and paid their deposit. For more information, contact Monique Pope @ (909) 748-8337 or monique_pope@redlands.edu

To Apply For These Scholarships and Grants Please Submit:

  • A personal essay detailing your interest in the program, including reflecting on how participation in this course will enhance your educational experience at the University of Redlands and further your academic and professional goals and why receiving this scholarship or grant can make that happen.
  • A current resumé.
  • Letters of recommendation from one of your professors and one of your professional colleagues

Except as indicated, to be eligible for the scholarships and grants, undergraduate students must have a GPA of at least 2.75 and graduate students must have at least a 3.25 GPA at the time of application.

There are specific application deadlines for each award and you can apply to be considered for multiple awards using the same application.
