Sample Itinerary for Gardening, Giving, and Green Living! - Marin , subject to (and likely to) change: 

Day 1 

Depart the University of Redlands for the San Francisco Area.  30 minutes after crossing the Golden Gate Bridge (with a quick stop for pictures), you’ll arrive at your dorm-style accommodations at the University of Redlands Marin Campus. 

Day 2 

Today you’ll tour various community gardens in the Oakland area, and explore the impact sustainable agriculture makes on local communities. 

Day 3 

Head to San Francisco, exploring the community gardens and sustainable initiatives in this innovative hub for all things green.  You’ll round out the evening with big trees in Muir woods. 

Day 4 

Today you’re headed back south, with the opportunity to compare what you’ve learned with large scale agricultural operations in the central valley.  You’ll be back in your residence hall this evening. 

Day 5 

This morning you’ll apply new concepts and learning on campus in the SURF Farm.  After a shower, join the rest of the cohorts for the FYJ celebration and dinner. 

Additional Information 

No prior gardening or background knowledge required for this trip.  You’ll be staying in dorm-style accommodations with your own bed, but may share the space with a roommate.  This trip will entail significant travel, both mechanized and on your feet, so bring good walking shoes and a readiness to get your hands dirty!
