Scholarship Award

The Valorie K. McLaughlin Endowed Scholarship for Student Teaching award is to support current School of Education students who are currently student teaching. The recipient will be identified and awarded a check in the amount of $5,000.


  • Enrolled in the School of Education as a student pursuing a Master's degree or teaching credential through the Department of Teaching and Learning
  • Placement as a student teacher through the School of Education
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA
  • Demonstrated financial need, as determined by the University's prevailing policies and practices
  • First generation college student
  • Expressed goal to work in an undeserved community


To apply, complete the scholarship application and upload a statement articulating your background and interests related to education and working with underserved communities. Submissions are due by the stated deadline to be considered.
