Change Agent Scholarship

Reflecting on our commitment to our mission and guiding principles, the School of Education’s Change Agent Scholarship recognizes the valuable efforts of our students who serve as change agents within their communities. The purpose of this need-based scholarship is to support change agents in their efforts to uphold educational justice in today’s challenging and diverse educational landscape.

This scholarship is only open to students starting a new degree-seeking program in Summer 2022. Recipients of this scholarship must be considered a first-generation college student and demonstrate financial need.

Scholarship Award

Scholarship awardees will be based on financial need as defined by EFC (expected family contribution) and potential impact of stated goals related to the student’s field of interest. Award recipients will receive a $2,300 scholarships. Award recipients will receive a credit to their current or future tuition bill. The scholarship is awarded in the students’ first semester.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Applicant must be admitted into a new School of Education degree-seeking graduate program.
  • Completed Scholarship Application.
  • Demonstrated financial need (i.e., FAFSA or DREAM application)
    • Undocumented students are not required to submit FAFSA
  • Proof of COVID vaccination or approved exemption.
  • Written statement:
    • Statement question: in less than 500-words articulate how your past experiences have addressed social and educational justice and/or how this scholarship will help you become a change agent for your community.
  • First generation college student.

Process

  1. Incoming student submits scholarship application materials before the deadline.
  2. Scholarship recipients are notified via email.
