 The men's swimming and diving team captured the program's seventh straight and eighth overall title at the 2007 SCIAC Swimming & Diving Championships.
Program Overviews
The men's swimming and diving team has consistently been in the top three in the SCIAC over the past 10 years. The Bulldogs captured their first-ever SCIAC title in 1994 and then their second in 2001. They boasted repeat performances in 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, and most recently in 2007, capturing the SCAIC trophy for seven straight years. The team routinely consists of 20 or more men competing for the 12 individual and 5 relay NCAA and SCIAC events. Since 1996, the Bulldog swimmers and divers have compiled an outstanding list of honors including one NCAA individual champion (Greg Milton, 100 Free, 1993, 45.07), 13 All-Americans, 38 All-American performances, and a top-15 team finish at the NCAA Championships.
The women's swimming & diving team captured its first-ever SCIAC title in 2000 and successfully defended it in 2001 and 2002. Since 2000, each of the 18 women's school records have been broken. From 1996 through 2007, the Bulldog swimmers and divers have compiled an outstanding list of honors including three SCIAC team titles, 10 All-Americans, 29 All-American performances, and two top-25 team finish at NCAA Championships. The swimming & diving team has produced back-to-back UR "Frank Serrao Female Senior Student-Athlete of the Year" in Gretchen Ballard ('00) and Tara Severe ('01).
With the training advantage of the multi-million dollar Thompson Aquatic Center, every year promises to be challenging, exciting and rewarding. The Bulldog swimmers and divers have worked to help raise the bar for aquatics around the SCIAC and beyond. The Redlands swimming & diving teams strive for a close-knit atmosphere, accompanied by hard work and driven success.
