Internships

Internships are a great way to gain work experience and apply classroom theory to "real world" situations.  Internships can help with career exploration of industries and occupations to determine if there is a good fit.  Studies show that 66% of employers pay new hires that have experience an average of 8.9% more than they would with no related experience.  They can be taken on a credit/no credit basis and some internships are paid, however the majority are not.

If taken for credit, you are allowed up to 4 units per semester with a 12 unit cap; 40 hours must be served for every credit and a faculty member relevant to the internship must sign your individualized study application. (Applications are available at the registrar's office). Additional stipulations may be determined by you and the faculty member.

If not taken for credit, internship hours can range from 10-20 hours per week depending upon your class schedule.

The Office of Career Development has several internship resources available in the Career Resource Library.  You can also check Nacelink for internship postings.
