Description:

Under the leadership and supervision of the Vice President for University Relations, the Director of Alumni Relations manages the programs that facilitate reciprocal communication and service between alumni and the University. 

  • Plans and implements alumni programs including reunion events, regional events, travel opportunities, student and parent interaction, and Town and Gown activities.
  • Staffs Alumni Association Board of Directors consisting of governing board representing the College of Arts and Sciences, Johnston Center, School of Education, and School of Business.
  • Recruits and manages volunteers for reunions, admissions, clubs, events, and career services.
  • Actively engages the Office of the President and other University departments, as appropriate, in outreach to
     and programming for alumni.
  • Manages the Alumni Relations staff and several budgets for which the Office of Alumni Relations is responsible.
  • Oversees the management of the Alumni House, ensuring its proper operation and maintenance.
  • Manages alumni portion of related programs such as MBNA affinity card. 
  • Performs other duties and special projects as assigned or directed.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree plus a minimum of five (5) to eight (8) years experience in a similar position required. Masters degree preferred. Experience in institutional advancement work which includes volunteer and event management in an educational setting, preferred, however, experience in a related field or significant volunteer work acceptable. Selected candidate will possess strong interpersonal skills; exceptional public speaking skills; high level of independent judgment; strong verbal and written communication skills. Considerable evening and weekend work involved. Successful candidate will have a leadership style marked by enthusiasm with a desire to innovate; organizational and motivational skills must be exceptionally well developed; ability to handle a variety of responsibilities simultaneously and effectively; and able to competently interact with a culturally and ethnically diverse population of alumni, students, faculty, and staff.
