March 24, 2008 - Redlands, CA - The Bulldog men’s tennis team welcomed the Ephs of Williams College (MA) to Verdieck Courts on Friday. Despite taking a 2-1 lead after doubles, Redlands came up short by a score of 4-5.
The doubles duo of seniors Eric Wagar (shown in photo; Yakima, WA) and Ransom Cook (Brookline, MA) earned an exciting 8-6 win at the top spot as the #3 team of sophomore Jeff Hammond (Mercer Island, WA) and freshman Keven Wong (Kaneohe, HI) earned a solid 8-5 victory. Although Redlands came up short in the singles competition, Wagar earned a hard-fought, three-set win at #2, 6-1, 3-6, 6-2. In addition, junior Chris Trippel (Mercer Island, WA) gained his victory at #5 in come-from-behind fashion, prevailing by scores of 2-6, 6-4, 6-4.
Redlands (13-2) faces another challenging week of out-of-region competition. On Tuesday, the Bulldogs take on Pacific Lutheran University (WA) and then host Gustavus Adolphus College (MN) on Thursday, followed by a match against Middlebury College (VT) on Friday. These matches are scheduled for 2 p.m. on Verdieck Courts. |
