Description:

Working independently in an environment where collaboration with other departments is required, the Web Content Manager will manage and oversee the editorial content and organization of information on the university’s Web site. 

The duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Reviews the university’s Web site and makes changes, or causes changes to be made, as needed to keep the site current.  Monitors online information for accuracy, improved methods of presentation and university style guidelines.
  • Manages and oversees content of appropriate university gateway sections.
  • Serves as a “teaching resource” to university departments and divisions in content development for Web pages where appropriate.  Works with those departments to “repurpose” content developed for other university purposes.
  • Assesses informational needs, develops and executes editorial guidelines, produces high-quality work in a timely manner, and organizes the large volume of editorial material and other institutional information available.
  • Works with colleagues in the Public Relations and Integrated Technology departments to ensure integrated information sharing throughout the campus.
  • Keeps the Public Relations and Integrated Technology departments apprised of developments in the field, and seeks out new marketing/public relations opportunities in this medium.
  • Performs other related duties or special projects as directed.

Minimum Qualifications:
Position requires Bachelor's Degree in English, creative writing, communications, journalism, or a related discipline plus two (2) years of professional experience in writing, editing, and managing content on a significant Web site or any equivalent combination thereof.  Master’s Degree preferred.  Successful candidate will be familiar with Web site management processes, tools and content management systems; a strong familiarity with Microsoft Office products, Adobe Photoshop, Acrobat and web content design tools; a thorough understanding and command of Associated Press writing/editing style; familiarity with database connectivity and content management concepts; strong communication skills with a wide range of constituents from Web novices to Integrated Technology and Public Relations staff.  Preference will be given to those with familiarity with Web promotion and marketing techniques and familiarity with institutions of higher education.  Successful candidate must be able to competently interact with a culturally and ethnically diverse population of students, faculty, and staff.  In compliance with The Americans with Disability Act if selected for the interview process and accommodations are needed please call (909) 748-8040.
