The University of Redlands is again among the top 10 Western master’s universities and one of the great schools at a great price, according to the newest U.S. News & World Report rankings.
In another national nod, The Princeton Review lists the school as one of the 123 Best Western Colleges in its 2008 “Best 366 Colleges” book, designed to identify colleges and universities that the publication feels are standouts in each region.
In the U.S. News and World Report’s annual college guide, Redlands is listed sixth, along with Seattle University and Mills College, in the category of Western universities that offer undergraduate and master’s programs but few, if any, doctoral programs.
That’s a jump from the school’s ninth place ranking last year in that category. Among the top 10 schools in the category this year, Redland tied with first place Trinity University for the lowest faculty/student ratio (10/1).
The University of Redlands is also ranked eighth among Western master’s universities that offer a great value, a category that considers the higher the quality of the program and the lower the cost, the better the deal.
Redlands had 67 percent of its students receiving need-based grants in 2006, bringing the average cost after receiving those grants to $24,002—a discount of 43 percent from the total 2006 cost.
“We are pleased to once again be acknowledged as one of the best master’s universities in the West and among the great schools at a great price,” said Neil Macready, vice president for university relations.
