The Paul Creston Award will be presented to the legendary Frederick Swann on Friday, November 20, 2009 at
St. Malachy’s-The Actors’ Chapel.  Mr. Swann is an internationally renowned performer, composer, arranger,
and church musician.  He is considered by peers alike to be among the very few that represent the zenith of the
American church music scene.  Some of the prominent positions Mr. Swann has held include Riverside Church in
New York City (1952-1982), The Crystal Cathedral (1982-1998), and First Congregational Church in Los Angeles.

The Paul Creston Award honors and celebrates the composer’s legacy and long-time association as organist at St.
Malachy’s-The Actors Chapel (1934-1967).  Creston’s orchestral, chamber and vocal works have been widely
performed around the world and have been championed by many conducting greats including Arturo Toscanini,
Eugene Ormandy, and Leopold Stokowski.
