Women's and Gender Studies

About the Program

As the roles of women and men continue to change in our pluralistic society, the ability to understand and reflect on these changes is increasingly important. The knowledge and experience offered by women's and gender studies courses and departmental courses that concentrate on women's and gender issues become valuable tools in a wide variety of fields.

The major in women's and gender studies is an interdisciplinary program that draws on a rich offering of courses across the CAS curriculum.  It is possible to major or minor in women's and gender studies.  The minor is excellent in combination with many majors, and women's and gender studies courses aid students in preparing for careers in law, social work, counseling, medicine, education, business and government as well as graduate study in many disciplines.
