The University of Redlands School of Music is an accredited institutional member of the National Association of Schools of Music and offers a conservatory approach in a liberal arts setting.
The School of Music offers two undergraduate degrees: Bachelor of Music in Performance, Composition or Music Education and the Bachelor of Arts with a Major in Music, as well as a minor in music.
The School of Music also offers a Master's degree in: Performance, Music Education, Conducting and Composition, as well as an Artist Diploma. (All applicants must pass an entrance audition. Placement auditions are held at the beginning of each year for large and small ensembles including Wind Ensemble, Opera Theater, Jazz Band, Jazz Combo, Guitar Ensemble and University Orchestra.)
Performance opportunities abound at the university with more than 200 performances presented on campus annually, including the university’s holiday tradition, the Feast of Lights, which features the University Choir. (Madrigals and Chapel Singers are two chamber choirs for advanced choral singers.)
In the surrounding communities, our voice majors frequently audition and perform with regional theatre companies, often placing with the Regional and National Metropolitan Opera auditions and the MTAC.
Student recitals and chamber music concerts are performed in the Frederick Loewe Performance Hall and large ensemble concerts are held in the Memorial Chapel. Our practice rooms, offices, classrooms and the recording studio are located in Watchorn Hall and the Fine Arts Building with additional rehearsal space in University Hall.
Whether music is your major or you just have an interest in music, everyone is encouraged to participate in the rich, musical environment found on campus.
