"I'd say that we're probably more of a laid-back, relaxed campus. I enjoy outdoor activities. There's a lot to do here, especially with the sun. We have the Quad to play on--daily there's people out there playing Frisbee, or football or relaxing--there's always people laying out tanning. So, if you're really into having something to do, all the time, I mean there's definitely plenty of things to get involved in.
"I'm one of those people who really likes to stay busy, but still likes to go outside. We have a great location. We're far enough away from all of the great Southern California activities that they're not distractions, but you can still go enjoy them.
"We just had a break and I personally got to go and enjoy Lake Havasu. I went to Six Flags, which is about an hour and a half away. There's Disneyland. The beach--there's always surfing. Those are like weekend adventures when we have time off.
"On campus, there's always--like in the residence halls we put on programs, usually in our hall--every Friday or Saturday night there's something going on. We do anything from like games and pizza and movies. We do stuff like that.
"We did one just recently--I think it was like a fitness program where we brought--we had prizes of all kinds, like exercise balls and fun things like that. We learned a little bit about nutrition, but then we also did some fun little exercises and things. What can you do in just a few quick minutes to keep yourself in shape, and look good for summer coming up?
"We do all kinds of random fun things. They go bowling. We play broomball, which is on the ice with the brooms, it's really fun. Everyone likes that. It's a little inter-hall interaction so everyone kind of gets to know each other from around campus that way.
"It's very easy to be involved in a lot of things on campus and play major roles in them. I'm part of the business fraternity, Maroon and Gray, which is our alumni connection. We are starting a triathlon club.
"It's very easy to get involved, and to feel like a part of the campus, and that you matter, and that you can take part in absolutely everything that goes on. I love it here, I would not change my mind for the world." |
