About the Department
The Program in Latin American Studies offers an interdisciplinary approach to the study of Latin America and the Caribbean by drawing upon classes and faculty in government, sociology, history, art and Spanish literature. Students in the minor are required to complete the equivalent of a fourth semester of a foreign language at the college level and strongly encouraged to study abroad.
The minor prepares students to work with corporations, international organizations, government and law firms that deal with the region. For the many Redlands graduates who choose to live and work in the Southwest, the program also provides a deeper understanding of their neighbors and colleagues.
