Commencement Information

The bookstore will be open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and the Plaza Café from 11:30 a.m. to noon Commencement Day.

For your convenience, water, soda and snacks will also be available for purchase near the entrance to the Greek Theatre provided by the University Staff Organization.

Caps, Gowns, Announcements and Accessories are purchased online with Balfour Graduation Company. Their Web site is www.cbgrad.com. Their phone number is (800) 433-0296.

Two weeks are required to receive personal invitations ordered from Balfour. Please plan your request accordingly.

You may also call the University of Redlands Bookstore at (909) 748-8950 to purchase items.

The commencement ceremony will be held in our historic Alumni-Greek
Theater, an open-air amphitheater located at the southern portion of our
campus.

Although a picturesque site for the ceremony, the rustic setting of
the Alumni-Greek Theater may pose certain challenges to our guests who
have difficulty walking or negotiating uneven steps within the theater.

Class rings will be displayed in the bookstore. You can view the items on their Web site at  www.balfourcollege.com.

In keeping with a long University of Redlands tradition, the Commencement Ceremony will take place outside in the Alumni-Greek Theatre.

Commencement Day is usually hot and there is little shade in the Greek Theatre. Comfortable shoes are recommended, as there is considerable distance (some unpaved) between event locations. Graduates stand on the grass in the lineup area and must negotiate many uneven steps into the Greek Theatre.

There is limited seating, so please have your family and friends arrive early.

A professional flower company will be on campus before the ceremony. Your family and friends can commemorate this special occasion with a bouquet of flowers or a lei.

A percentage of the profit will be returned to the university.

A professional photographer will be at the commencement ceremony. Each student will receive proofs and order forms directly from Chappell within five to seven days after the ceremony. You may place orders or obtain answers to questions at www.gradimages.com or call (800) 424-3686.

A percentage of the profit will be returned to the university.

Participants should assemble in front of the Administration Building by 5:30 p.m. Please be prompt! You will receive the Commencement Program as you leave the lineup area.

Please tell your family and friends that you do not march in the order listed in the program. You will march by degree and credential program.

Items should be claimed from or turned into the Registrar’s Office on the main floor of the Administration Building after the ceremony.
This takes place during the Commencement Ceremony. Students carry the hood over their right arm as they walk. Once on stage, a faculty from the appropriate degree will take the hood and place it over the head and around the shoulders as an honorary symbol of completion of the master’s degree.
The name placement card displays your name and degree or credential program. This card is handed to a reader who will announce your name as you start across the stage. Cards must be picked up between 5 p.m. and 5:45 p.m. in front of the Administration Building. You must pick up your own card prior to the processional lineup.
