The Department of Communicative Disorders

The Department of Communicative Disorders has been part of the University of Redlands campus for more than 50 years. The course of study in the department is designed to develop excellence in academics and clinical practice. The department values a strong liberal arts foundation to develop thinking skills and communication abilities. The collaborative relationship among students and faculty is personal, meaningful and contributes to a reputation for producing caring and expert professionals.

There are approximately 100 undergraduate majors and 50 full-time graduate students who are taught and mentored by nine full-time faculty members. The degree programs prepare students for careers in speech/language pathology or audiology. Students are prepared to work in the hospital/medical center, public schools and private practice settings. The department offers a Bachelor of Arts in Communicative Disorders, Master of Science in Speech Language Pathology, Speech-Language Pathology Services Credential (SLPS), Special Class Authorization, Licensure in Speech-Language Pathology, and is an American Speech Language Hearing Association (ASHA)-accredited program.

Truesdail Center for Communicative Disorders

The Truesdail Center for Communicative Disorders provides speech and linguistic therapy for the local community. A limited number of patients are consulted with and treated each semester in our unique student/faculty clinic.

Clinical services at the Truesdail Center are conducted by graduate students under the direct supervision of our professors who are certified by the American Speech, Language and Hearing Association.
