Mari Burningham joined the University of Redlands in 2004 as the head coach for the women's volleyball program after two years as the assistant coach at Brigham Young University.
In 2006, she led the Bulldogs to their best finish in school history by advancing to the NCAA Sweet Sixteen and garerning the program's first and second postseason victories.
Burningham earned her Bachelor of Science in Sociology from BYU in 2000 and then joined the coaching staff for the Cougars two years later. As the assistant coach, Burningham took on the role of recruiting coordinator and helped implement the current skills and techniques that are taught by the USA National Team. In 2003, she helped the Cougars to a 24-9 record and a second-round appearance in the NCAA tournament.
In addition to coaching, Burningham taught physical activity courses in volleyball and weight training at BYU. Outside of the college scene, she is involved with USA Volleyball as grassroots director and coach. She also served as head coach for American Fork High School, where she fostered two full-ride scholarship student-athletes, during the 2000 and 2001 seasons.
In her free time, Burningham enjoys outdoor activities, including hikes with her two Labradors. She is also an avid reader and likes to draw. |
