Group Guitar Class and Classical Guitar Ensemble

The Community School of Music and the Arts is pleased to announce that we are now offering a group guitar class (for beginning students) and a new classical guitar ensemble at our facility in downtown Redlands!  Beginning the week of September 11, 2017, classes meet weekly at convenient times and are taught by experienced faculty.

GROUP GUITAR CLASS

Each guitar course is 12 weeks long. Students must have their own classical or acoustic guitar to bring to the classes.

Evening Guitar I (Ages 15 and up)

Mondays from 6-7pm
Course Fee: $240
Enrollment: 5-10 students

Ever wanted to learn guitar and just couldn’t find the time? Did you take lessons when you were younger but have spent years away from the instrument? Here’s your chance to learn in a relaxed and engaging environment! This 12-week course is designed for the beginning guitarist with an emphasis in classical training. Topics will include: left- and right-hand technique, reading standard notation, chords and basic music theory. Students will have the chance to learn performance skills as a soloist and ensemble member.

COMMUNITY CLASSICAL GUITAR ENSEMBLE

Each guitar course is 12 weeks long. Students must own and play a classical guitar and be able to read music comfortably in first position.

Community Classical Guitar Ensemble I

Mondays from 7:15-8:15pm
Course Fee: $150

The University of Redlands is now accepting registration for the brand-new community guitar ensemble! Come gather with fellow community members and share a love and appreciation for the classical guitar. Ensemble members must play on a classical guitar and be able to read music comfortably in first position.

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR

Samuel McLain, guitar

Samuel McLain is a professional guitarist and educator. His early guitar teachers include Bruce Hunter and Mike Sawitzke. He holds a Bachelor of Music and a Master of Music degree in Classical Guitar Performance from the University of Redlands where he studied under the tutelage of Stuart Green. In addition to being an active performer, Samuel maintains a thriving private studio, serves as Artist Teacher of Guitar at the University of Redlands, and is a guitar instructor at San Jacinto Valley Academy. He is profoundly committed to providing his students with a solid musical foundation and helping them develop a lifelong love for the arts.
