Business Applications of Geographic Information Systems (GIS)
Geographic Information Systems in Logistics
Geographic Information Systems in Operations Research
Geographic Information Systems Infusion in Business School Curricula
My current research endeavors are collaborative and hence inter-disciplinary. I am collaborating with colleagues in Information Systems and Strategy to develop a conceptual framework for success in business analytics – the paradigm of fact and data driven decision-making. I am also collaborating with colleagues across various disciplines to understand the (a) facilitators and inhibitors of geographic information systems (GIS) infusion in business school curricula, and the (b) contribution of GIS in facilitating the solution of complex large-scale problems in vehicle routing and site location. This is an outcome of my research background in modeling movement and resultant congestion in the context of site location. Presently, I am also investigating the "demographics" of the warehousing and transportation industry in southern California.
My research articles have been published in journals such as Journal of Geographical Systems, European Journal of Operational Research, Socio-Economic Planning Sciences, Computers and Operations Research, and IIE Transactions.
My Ph.D. (2004) and M.S. (2002) are in Industrial Engineering from the University at Buffalo (UB), The State University of New York. Teaching opportunities at UB sowed in me a passion for teaching. I am a recipient of the Faculty Review Committee Award for Outstanding Teaching at the University of Redlands in 2009.
