Awards, Honors, Grants

1991 National Debate Coach of the Year and coach of the winning team at the 45th "National Debate Tournament" defeating the University of Michigan in the final round.

One of five College Debate Coaches selected by the Associated Press to judge the revived Presidential Debates in 1976 (Ford vs. Carter). Repeated that honor in 1980; 1984; 1988 1992; 1996 and 2000.

Selected by the Presidents Commission on Presidential Debates as a Study Group for "Debate Watch," in 1996, with my First Year Seminar class, Debating for the Presidency.

Recipient of the George Ziegelmueller Award, 2005---59th National Debate Tournament, for Coaching and Teaching Excellence in Communication Studies.

Recipient of the Lucy Keele Award at the 2008---62nd National Debate Tournament, for Outstanding Service to the Debate Community.
