The Major

The Bachelor of Arts degree in computer science enables the student to learn about the principles and practices of software engineering. Students majoring in computer science must complete the following nine courses.

Programming Foundations

  • CS 110 Introduction to Programming in Java
  • CS 111 Data, File Structures and Object-Oriented Programming with Java (successful completion of CS110 required)


Analytical

  • Math 111 Elementary Statistics and Probability

  • Math 121 Calculus I


Smart Devices and Web Programming  (only after completing the 100-level courses)

  • CS 222 Programming for the World-wide web

  • CS 223 Multimedia Design and Game Programming


Computational Concepts (2 out of 4)

  • CS 323 Mobile Programming

  • CS 330 Database Management

  • CS 340 Programming Languages

  • CS 341 Software Engineering


Senior Capstone Experience

  • CS 450 Computer Science Senior Project

The Minor

Students minoring in computer science must complete the following requirements:

  • CS 110

  • CS 111

  • four more courses from computer science offerings
