Dining on Campus

Students choosing their meals at the Irvine Commons

Bon Appétit Management Company has become a model for what is possible in sustainable food service. As the University of Redland’s food service provider, Bon Appétit believes in serving only the freshest food. Food that is made alive with flavor and nutrition. Food that is created in a socially responsible manner. We have pledged to take a stand on many issues surrounding our food supply. We believe this responsibility is integral to our value as food providers. We are partners in creating a better world. We bring these ideals to life on the University of Redlands campus every day by:

  • Cooking food from scratch using fresh seasonal ingredients
  • Taking our role in the community seriously and making socially responsible purchasing decisions
  • Serving great tasting, authentic and nutritious food that exceeds the expectations of our guests including vegetarian, vegan, and international diners
  • Providing opportunities for all our employees, including student workers, to develop their potential and abilities
  • Recognizing that every client we serve is unique and creating a tailored food program that meets the needs of the Redlands campus community
  • Serving a wide variety of menu items at each meal, each day keeping things fresh, fun, and interesting--you won’t find a cycle menu at the University of Redlands

Locations and hours

At Bon Appétit Management Company, we recognize the great power and importance of food. Dining rooms are gathering places. Breaking bread together helps to create a sense of community and comfort. One reason the Redlands community is so close-knit is that we meet daily over good food in the dining rooms located in the Hunsaker University Center.

The Irvine Commons

The newly renovated Irvine Commons is a gathering place for the entire community, designed to showcase a wide range of flavorful, delicious offerings for breakfast, lunch and dinner in a casual dining environment. Featured venues will include a Taqueria station focusing on meals from many countries in South America, a Classics station featuring home-style items and comfort foods, the roving Pacific Rim venue offering sushi and other specialties from throughout the Asian region, a Tossed station with made to order entrée salads or wraps, the California Grill venue offering hamburgers made with ground beef from cows never given antibiotics or hormones and chicken raised without antibiotics as a routine feed additive, an Exhibition station with sauteed to order entrees, and other menu options including such things as a salad bar, breakfast, pastry, bagel and yogurt bar, home-style soups, freshly baked desserts, and both fountain and bottled beverages. Vegetarian choices will be offered at each venue rather than being limited to one entrée option. Since this will be a retail plan, there is no flat fee to eat dinner at the new Irvine Commons. All entrees and food items are priced individually with a cashier located at each venue eliminating the need to wait in a second line to pay.
