Academic Clubs, Honoraries & Professional Societies
Academic excellence is at the heart of all we do at Redlands. This emphasis is reflected in our many academic clubs, honoraries and professional societies—organizations that all were established to foster faculty and student networking and interaction and to encourage students to explore and serve the academic community.
Clubs include:
- Accounting Club: offers opportunities for students to learn about careers in accounting and to become members of the accounting community
- Biology Club: promotes biological sciences through shared knowledge with community and the biology department
- Chemistry Club: founded as an effort to increase interaction among science students and faculty, and introduce students to opportunities in chemical careers
- Chinese Club: provides students the opportunity to learn about the Chinese culture and language
- Delta Sigma Pi: a professional co-ed fraternity, which fosters the study of business in universities, in order to encourage interaction among business students and between students and businesses
- Denominators: Math Club: builds camaraderie between students interested in mathematics by applying studies to real-world activities
- Economic Society: an academic/pre-professional organization committed to providing opportunities for students to interact with students, faculty and professionals in economics
- German Club: provides students the opportunity to learn about the German culture and language
- Japanese Club provides students the opportunity to learn about the Japanese culture and language
- Mock Trial: an entirely student run team, which engages students in trial simulations in competition with teams from other institutions, enabling students to develop critical thinking and public speaking skills, as well as a knowledge of legal practices and procedures
- Mortar Board: a national college senior honor society that promotes scholarship, leadership, and service
- National Residence Hall Honorary (NRHH): honors and recognizes community members of outstanding service or leadership within resience halls.
- National Student Speech Language Hearing Association (NSSLHA): a pre-professional communication sciences and disorders membership association designed to encourage interaction among students interested in the study of normal and disordered human communication
- Omicron Delta Epsilon: an international economics honor society, which establishes closer ties between students and faculty in economics
- Phi Alpha Theta: a national history honor society, which promotes the study of history through the encouragement of research, good teaching, publication and the exchange of learning and ideas among historians
- Phi Beta Kappa: a national interdisciplinary academic honor society, which invites for induction the most outstanding arts and sciences students
- Philosophy Club: for students who are interested in the field or fostering awareness of philosophical thinking
- Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia: a national music fraternity for men that promotes high standards of creativity, performance, education and research in music in America
- Physics Club: for studentsto participate and explore the areas of Physics, Astronomy, and Science
- Pi Gamma Mu: an international social science honor society dedicated to scholarship and community service
- Pi Kappa Lambda: a national music honor society dedicated to the furtherance of music in education and education in music by honoring outstanding academic and artistic achievement on the part of music majors
- Pi Sigma Alpha: a national political science honor society, which seeks to promote excellence in the study of political science through a variety of programs, such as awards, scholarships and lecture funding
- Pre-Med Club: designed to introduce real world experience to the classroom knowledge in health related fields
- Psi Chi: an international psychology honor society with the purpose of encouraging, stimulating, maintaining excellence in scholarship and advancing the science of psychology
- Redlands Investment Fund: a non-profit, student-run organization that manages stock investments and models a cooperative corporate structure for the educational benefit of its members and the student body
- Sigma Alpha Iota: an international music fraternity for women, which seeks to uphold the highest standards of music and further the development of music on campus, in the community, and throughout the world
- Sigma Iota Rho: an international studies honor society, which promotes and rewards scholarship and service among students and practitioners of international studies, international affairs, and global studies and fosters integrity and creativity in the conduct of world affairs
- Sigma Tau Delta: an international English honor society that promotes interest in literature and the English language and fosters literacy on campus and in the community
- Service, Patriotism, Unity, Responsibility, and Sacrifice (SPURS): a national honorary for sophomore women dedicated to scholarship and service
