Values - Reliability, Graciousness, and Beauty of Character

Academics and community service are very important to Beta. We try to achieve academic success and give back to our community as much as possible. We also enjoy having fun at our annual all-school party, Afterglow. Beta women try their best to uphold our values of reliability, graciousness, and beauty of character at all times. We pride ourselves on being a diverse group on campus and find that our differences as well as similarities anchor us in sisterhood, not only for our time here at the U of R, but for the rest of our lives.

Honors- Last semester we were awarded party of the year for Afterglow. It was incredibly successful and we had a blast dancing the night away with everyone. We hope to have another successful party this upcoming spring. We have also received awards for our involvement in community service, which we pride ourselves on. Being academically successful is also very important to Beta, and we have won awards based on GPA in the past and are always actively working to gain the best grades we can.

Involvement- The women of Beta Lambda are incredibly involved on campus in various groups. We have several ad hosts as well as orientation mentors and members involved in CHAMPS and Big Buddies. There are also members who work with Maroon and Grey as well as KDAWG Radio. We also have members who are also on athletic teams, such as soccer, dive, swim, lacrosse, and cheer. We enjoy supporting our sisters by going to games together and cheering them on. The diversity of our involvement on campus is important to us as it shows each Beta’s individuality.

Community Service Involvement- Beta Lambda has been actively participating in many volunteer opportunities, including more participation within our philanthropy, Childhelp, as well as teaming up with our brother fraternity, Chi Rho Psi. We hosted a beach clean-up with Chi Rho Psi and volunteered with them at BARC every other week. We participated in service within the University of Redlands SURF garden, which included planting two trees. We have been getting more involved with Childhelp, and recently hosted a “beauty day” for the young girls where we styled their hair and painted their nails. The day was such a success we are looking forward to working with them again in the near future.

The University has a long tradition of encouraging and supporting study abroad.

More than 47 percent of Redlands undergraduates participate in study abroad programs.
