Kappa Sigma Sigma

Nickname: The Birds
Colors: Green and Gold
Year Founded: 1916
Values: Tradition

Kappa Sigma Sigma has been working with the campus and the Redlands community for almost 90 years. The Men of Kappa Sigma Sigma stand for maintaining tradition and professionalism.  The organization is always striving to hold themselves to a higher standard when it comes to academics, professionalism, morals, and involvement on campus.  The Fraternity is coming up on the 99th consecutive year of having active members, with a centennial at the end of the 2015-’16 school year.

Involvement

Kappa Sigma Sigma, as an organization, and the individual brothers are highly involved on campus.  The Fraternity has members involved in Water Polo, Swimming, Diving, Tennis, Football, Cross Country, Track, Ultimate Frisbee, German Club, Omicron Delta Kappa, Order of Omega, ASUR, Admission Hosts, Theatre, Johnston, and several other areas of campus.  As an organization the Fraternity stresses academic success and consistently receives the highest fraternity GPA award at the U of R.  Each year the organization hikes up to the “R” as a tribute of those who made the monument over a hundred years ago.  During the 1950’s-‘60’s the “R” was forgotten, and was revitalized by members of Kappa Sigma Sigma.  In 2013 the organization placed solar powered lights on the “R” for the special celebration of the centennial of it’s creation.  For a month the “R” illuminated the night sky over Redlands in celebration of it’s 100th birthday.
