Internships are the ideal way to gain relevant work experience while applying classroom theory to real world situations. In a competitive job market, internships become a vital part of your resume and may set you apart from other applicants.
Internships can also help with career exploration of various industries and occupations. An internship is really a short-term way to test your future career without fully committing to it.
Internships may be paid (minimum wage or more) or undertaken for academic credit. If for credit, 2-4 units are possible as arranged through the Registrar's Office and a faculty sponsor.
