What Conditions Require a Visit to the Emergency Room?

A true medical emergency is the sudden and unexpected onset of a condition in which delay in treatment would endanger your health or life. Some examples are difficulty breathing, broken bones, excessive bleeding, suspected heart attack, unconsciousness, severe burns, car accident, back or neck injury, severe allergic reaction involving respiratory distress, drug overdose, mental distress, shock and severe stomach pain.

What should you do if the Student Health Center is closed?

The Student Health Center is open Monday-Friday from 8:00 - 11:30 a.m., and from 1 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. If you need medical care when the Health Center is closed, you can visit one of the local providers listed below. Be sure to take your health insurance card. If you have Kaiser insurance, you will need to go to one of the Kaiser facilities listed below. If you have questions about your insurance coverage, call the phone number on the back of your insurance card. You can also talk to your Community Life staff if you have questions about what to do.
