Community Directors

 Kara Schwartz

Community Director - Cortner and Melrose Halls


Kara is a Junior double majoring in Psychology and Visual Media Studies. She is from North Hollywood, CA which is in Los Angeles County. Kara is the Community Director of Melrose and Cortner Halls for the 2013-2014 academic year. She is very excited to meet you all and to help build a great community in these halls. Kara is passionate about social justice, community service, diversity and Residence Life! She is very excited to see what the year brings.


Sheila Mendoza

Community Director - Grossmont Hall


Sheila is currently a senior at the U of R majoring in Communicative disorders. Sheila loves the U of R and has found her home away from home in a variety of different organizations. In addition to being apart of Residence Life and Housing, Sheila is involved in Greek life, ASUR Cabinet, Marroon and Grey Student Ambassadors, and Omicron Delta Kappa. She has enjoyed every minute of her time here, and is excited to welcome new Bulldogs into Grossmont. 


Tom O'Toole

Community Director, Fairmont Hall


Tom is a Junior at the University of Redlands majoring in Psychology with a minor in Government. He is originally from Maine but has made Fairmont his home since he has been at the U of R. Tom loves community service and can often be found serving at the Big Buddies, CHAMPS, or REACH programs. He enjoys intramural sports in his free time, and can often be seen at the sand volleyball courts. His true passions are service and social justice, the themes of Fairmont Hall! Fairmont will always be his home, and he is thankful to get the chance to meet a wonderful group of new students each year. 


Fiona Brady

Community Director, Grove Apartments


Fion is a senior at the University of Redlands with a double major in German and International Relations and a minor in Spanish. Fiona is also a Proudian Interdisciplinary Student. She is from Santa Cruz, California and spent the last year studying abroad in Spain and Germany. In addition to being a part of Residence Life, Fiona is also involved in the University Choir, the social sorority Alpha Sigma Pi, TRAIN as well as German Club. Fiona spent her sophomore year working as a Community Assistant in Grossmont Hall and could not have been happier. Fiona is excited to work in Grove this year as Community Director and can't wait to get back to Redlands after a year abroad!


Giulia Zoppolat

Community Coordinator, Johnston Complex


Giulia is the Community Coordinator for Johnston. She hails from Italy and has been living in northern California for the last five years. Giulia loves sunflowers, yoga, buffalo, and all good food.  

Thurber, an English bulldog, is the University's mascot.

He is named after Clarence Howe Thurber, University president from 1933-37.
