Julie Hernandez

Portrait of Julie Hernandez

Hello, my name is Julianna (Julie) Hernandez and I am originally from North Hills, California, better known as the San Fernando Valley. I’m a senior majoring in History with a double minor in Race and Ethnic studies, Women and Gender studies.

I have been working in CDI for the past three years as the "I’m Going to College" intern. I absolutely love my job because not only do I help promote awareness about college to lower income schools, but I also get to work with passionate students who are willing to volunteer and help with the program. I have seen the program grow and I hope that it keeps growing and gets stronger as the years go by.

I think the best aspect of working for CDI is that I can work on more than one thing. Although my main job is "I’m Going to College" I also help with other programs. I especially like working on Rethinking Columbus Day and Dia de Los Muertos.

There are more than 1,700 trees on the University of Redlands campus.

In April 2010, it was designated a Tree Campus USA by the Arbor Day Foundation. Redlands is among just three other colleges or universities in California to receive this designation.
