Lauren earned her M.A. Ed. in School Counseling with an emphasis on College Student Affairs in 2017. While completing her degree, she served on the School of Education Student Advisory Board, interned for Academic Success and Disability Services, and received the Outstanding Counseling Student Award. Prior to becoming a Bulldog, Lauren earned her B.A. in English at University of Oregon and traveled across the United States as an outdoor recreation and experiential learning educator. She is passionate about utilizing her experiential knowledge to assist students in understanding themselves in relation to the world of work and connecting them with opportunities to enhance their professional abilities.
Lauren has counseled young adults and adolescents on setting meaningful goals that build self-efficacy, strengthen social relationships, and increase career opportunities. She has advised the student-led club, Active Minds, in advocating for mental health awareness on campus. Lauren has assisted college students with academic planning and registration, and has worked with at-risk students to strengthen skills and achieve good academic standing. In September 2017, she was a returning presenter on the topics of leadership communication and interview etiquette for Expanding Horizons: The Next Chapter College and Career Readiness Conference for Foster, Homeless, and Unaccompanied Youth. Lauren is an active member of NACADA, and looks forward to becoming more involved with NACE, engaging the professional community and contributing to University of Redlands.
